Welcome to Valencia Elementary – a wonderful school in a charming setting, which celebrates students and nurtures scholarship. Valencia strives to develop student academic achievement through rigorous instruction and innovative child-centered programs which strengthen student connections to our local and global communities as well as to the natural world. We offer an inspiring environment for the education of girls and boys from Transitional Kindergarten through Grade Five, in the unyielding belief that each and every child has the potential for excellence and deserves the opportunity to reach the highest levels of education. Through teaching of the highest caliber, students are expected and encouraged to excel academically and develop socially. Valencia’s devotion to bringing out the best in each pupil lies at the heart of our educational philosophy. Valencia Lightning Bolts acquire skills, which will enable them to sustain an enduring love of learning and facilitates their on-going pursuit of higher education. Our Character Counts program and supportive family atmosphere also helps to cultivate in students, a lasting sense of social and civic responsibility. Our commitment to academic achievement, information technology and student social development, ensures that Valencia Lightning Bolts are prepared to succeed in the increasingly complex and competitive world of the Twenty First Century. Pico Rivera Sheriff's Station Haunted Jail and Open House Beware of the ghouls and goblins lurking through the Pico Rivera Jail! Participate in a scary afternoon with free treats for kids. The open house features information and exhibits on local law enforcement.

Where: Pico Rivera Sheriff's Station, 6631 Passons Boulevard

Can goods and non-perishable food items will be collected to support Pico Rivera residents in need.

Walk and Roll Fridays at Valencia Elementary!
Lightning Bolts will be starting a new tradition at Valencia this year! Because of the the great success of last year's Walk and Roll to School event sponsored by the Safe Routes to School organization and the city of Pico Rivera, the school will be starting Walk and Roll Fridays. Every Friday, students and their families are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to school. Families who normally drive to school are encouraged to park a few blocks away from school and enjoy the weather and the health benefits of walking to school. The Safe Routes to School organization will be providing a small prize for all participating students at our inaugural event this Friday, October 3, 2014. So put your walking shoes on or grab your helmet and handlebars and join us for this fun new event!
Visual and Performing Arts and Valencia!
Valencia Lightning Bolts are fully charged with the spirit of creativity! Students are learning about color theory and written expression on their latest art project. In the month of October, we will be learning about Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh and his sunflowers. Stay posted!

Heroes Day at Valencia
Each year, as part of our civic education program, Valencia Elementary honors its community heroes. Please help us commemorate our country’s dedicated first-responders as we honor all of our country’s service professions on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
Valencia Elementary will be conducting the following activities to commemorate this special day:
 Start-of-school flag salute and moment of silence
 All students and staff will wear red, white and blue
 Class learning activities about the history and contributions of our nation’s first responder professions such as nurses, fire-fighters, paramedics, law enforcement and armed services

We are encouraging families to talk with their children about this important aspect of our community. Thank you for your continued support of our students!
