Principal's Message
Dear Lightning Bolt Families,
Welcome to Valencia Elementary! I am excited to enter my eighth year as your school principal! Your child is going to have positive learning experiences with many happy memories. We believe that every child can achieve academic success and have a deep personal commitment to making that happen.
Valencia Elementary is a wonderful learning community that serves children in pre-kinder through fifth grade with about 435 students. Our students are engaged in meaningful learning experiences focused on grade level standards. As educators we have the responsibility to provide all students with a quality education that will prepare them for the 21st Century. By providing students with the tools to be successful through rigor, relevance, and application, they become life long learners. Rigor refers to the level of the lessons that are provided by the teacher. Relevance refers to how meaningful is the learning for the student. Finally, application refers to how a student applies what they have learned in the classroom. As a principal, it is my duty to ensure that students have that opportunity to build success. Elementary school serves as the foundation for success and preparing students for college is my goal.
Our Lightning Bolt staff works together to provide a caring and collaborative learning community that supports all children. Your child’s safety and education is our highest priority. We genuinely care about your child’s attendance, behavior, and academic achievement. Our talented teachers provide high quality instruction for every child. They work together to plan lessons that are meaningful, frequently checking to make sure your child is understanding the concept, and adjust instruction so that your child is learning to the best of their ability. All students need to have that opportunity to create a better future for themselves and their families. Your child’s teacher will be talking about college with them on a daily basis as well.
This new school year, we set out on our journey of academic excellence by working together, establishing high expectations, and equipping our children with 21st century skills to ensure every child is learning at their maximum potential. But we can’t do this alone. We need you -- our dedicated parents and families, committed to partnering with our school to support our students. Our home-school partnership will help us to achieve our goal of academic excellence. We are depending on you to be interested and involved in your child’s learning. We invite you to volunteer in your child’s classroom and be a part of our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Site Council (SSC), or English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC). These organizations help our school better serve your child.
I am confident that we have the dedication, determination, and desire to give our personal best to every child. Now you know who we are, where we have been, and where we are going . . . together.
With Much Excitement,
Ms. Roxane Fuentes Cicciarelli,
Principal
